NATIONAL SUMMARY

Much of the nation was free of rain, ice and snow this afternoon.
However, there was tropical moisture and a front bringing rain to
part of central and South Florida. The system is running out of time
for development as a tropical system, since it will be moving into a
zone of increasing wind shear east of Florida into the middle of the
week. Several inches of rain have fallen in some areas. Another
system recently deposited drenching rain on portions of Texas over
the weekend. Snow was falling on portions of Colorado and was
preparing to move out over the central Plains with a swath of light
snow, flurries and rain showers. A storm out over the Pacific Ocean
was approaching the coast of California and southern Oregon with
drenching rain. Elsewhere, high pressure was in control. After
bringing much of California drenching rain and mountain snow, the
system is forecast to move southward into central Mexico later this
week.
