Enough is enough!!!

That's the battlecry of the Saint Vincent College football team for the 2010 season.

"It's enough of this and enough of that. It's enough of the little things that prevented us from winning last season," Saint Vincent coach Bob Colbert said. "I told the kids that enough is enough. It's time to take the next step and turn this program into a winner."

Colbert revived Saint Vincent's program in 2007 after a 45-year hiatus. The Bearcats have posted a 1-29 record in their three seasons of competition, including last year's 0-10 mark.

"I'm pleased to say that we have 23 seniors," Colbert said. "We've never had that before. It's great to have so many players back with experience."

Another positive sign for the program: Saint Vincent enters the 2010 season as an official member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference, after serving a three-year provisional period.

"Our school had to be in compliance with all the NCAA's regulations," Colbert said. "They are much different than NAIA regulations. It took us three years to come into compliance. It's great to finally become an official member of the PAC."

The Bearcats used two quarterbacks last season and both are back. Kevin Corona (6-1, 189, Jr.) started the first six games and completed 85 of 181 passes for 967 yards and nine touchdowns. Jake Smith (6-1, 215, Jr.) played in nine games and started the last four. Smith completed 77 of 156 attempts for 949 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran for 238 yards on 41 carries.

"Both Kevin and Jake have experience, but Robert Morris transfer Adam Smetanka (6-4, 203, Jr.) is also challenging for playing time," Colbert said. "It's a good battle."

The top two tailbacks, Zach Mihalko (5-8, 165, Jr.) and Jairus Marlow (5-6, 170, Jr.), are back, but both may be unseated by Brendan Hamilton (5-10, 185, Soph.), a Jeannette High School graduate. Mihalko rushed for 297 yards on 94 carries. Marlow rushed for 129 yards on 63 carries.

The Bearcats also have two experienced fullbacks, Joe Yezovich (5-10, 230, Jr.) and Joe Strickland (6-0, 220, sr.). Yezovich, a Woodland Hills grad who started in 2008, is back after missing last season with an injury. Strickland started last season.

Sheldon Loughner (6-2, 205, Sr.) and Tom Quirin (6-1, 215, Sr.) are the top two returning receivers. Loughner led the Bearcats with 29 catches, 437 yards and three touchdowns. Quirin caught 17 passes for 180 yards in 2008, but moved to defense last year and started all 10 games at linebacker. This year, Quirin returns to the offense.

Ricky Douglas (6-1, 165, Soph.) and Carl Jeune (5-7, 135, Soph.) are also expected to see time at wide receiver.

"We had Tom at wide receiver his freshman year, but needed him on defense last year," Colbert said. "We also moved Marvin Daney from wide receiver to the secondary."

Daney (6-1, 185, Jr.) had 21 catches for 227 yards last year. This year he's playing safety.

Three starters return on the offensive line, right guard Joe Mylant (6-4, 260, Sr.), left guard Sean Sieg (6-0, 240, Jr.), and left tackle Steve Shore (6-2, 270, Sr.). Mylant, a Derry Area graduate, has made 20 starts over the past two years, while Shore, an Elizabeth Forward grad, has made 18 starts. Sieg, a Serra Catholic graduate, played in every game last year.

Taofik Amokomowo (6-2, 315, Jr.), Jeff Achezinski (6-0, 210, Jr.) and Shane Smith (6-3, 290, Sr.) split time at right tackle last year. All three are back with Amokomowo penciled in as the starter.

J.R. Creese (5-11, 245, Sr.) and James Haggerty (6-1, 265, Soph.) are the frontrunners to replace Kelly Knepshield, who graduated.

"We are very experienced on both sides of the ball," Colbert said. "We have starters returning at almost every position."

The defensive line returns intact with ends Jeff Graham (5-11, 215, Sr.) and John Jackson (5-11, 230, Sr.), and tackles Evan Lucas (5-11, 275, Jr.) and Jim Muraco (5-8, 255, Jr.). Graham is from Highlands, Jackson is from Ringgold, Lucas is a Woodland Hills grad, and Muraco is from West Allegheny.

Other returning starters on defense are cornerbacks Quillian Reid (5-9, 180, Sr.) and Rob James (5-11, 170, Sr.), and safety Alex Rowan (5-11, 190, Sr.). James is from Jeannette.

Four other members of the defense were part-time starters last year, linebackers Armando Fortunato (5-8, 200, Jr.) and Josh Catalano (5-9, 195, Soph.), and safeties Sean Hufgard (5-9, 175, Sr.) and Josh Diamond (6-1, 190, Sr.).
