Pittsburgh City Council plans to declare Tuesday "Chip Ganassi Day" in honor of his racing team's stellar year.
Councilman Bill Peduto, who's sponsoring the resolution, said Mr. Ganassi is "one of Pittsburgh's great champions" because his team is the first to win the "triple crown" of U.S. auto racing.
Mr. Ganassi's team won the Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 500 this year.
Mr. Peduto said Mr. Ganassi, a Duquesne University graduate who has an office Downtown, will be present for the proclamation during Tuesday's council meeting.
