For Danny Holtgraver of Pittsburgh, the Lernerville losing streak is finally over.
"I am amazed. We finally got our Lernerville win," Holtgraver said. "It only took us five years, but we finally got it."
Two weeks ago, Holtgraver was leading the sprint-ar feature when he tangled with a another car and ended up on his side, ending his night. He was disappointed to say the least.
Down, but not out, Holtgraver managed to hold on to the point lead after the bitter disappointment.
Friday, Holtgraver started seventh in the feature that included the likes of Ed Lynch Jr., Dale Blaney, Brian Ellenberger, Bob Felmlee and several travelers, which made the win more impressive.
Holtgraver also had a little more inspiration in his corner when Knoxville Nationals champion Tim Shaffer showed his support.
"The car was a little tight going into the corners, but Tim said just to get in there and drive it, don't worry about it and look where we're at," Holtgraver said after the victory.
The Lernerville victory could not have come at a better time for the sprint-car points leader going into the last points race of the season today.
Holtgraver leads Lynch by 19 points and Felmlee by 23 points going into the final night.
In the DIRTcar Late Models at Lernerville, Dave Hess has a 38 point lead over Jared Miley.
Kevin Bolland has a 24-point lead over Brian Swartzlander in the DIRTcar Modifieds.
Joe Kelly has clinched the title in the DIRTcar Sportsman Division.
