UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is the second winningest coach in Division I football behind Penn State's Joe Paterno.

Bowden's new book, "Called to Coach: Reflections on Life, Faith, and Football" hits the bookshelves this week around the country and includes forwards from his good friend Paterno and Tony Dungy.

Alabama athletic director Mal Moore has invited Bowden to Tuscaloosa Sept. 11 for the No. 1 Crimson Tide's game against No. 19 Penn State.

The 80-year-old Bowden, a Birmingham native, has plenty of good memories of Bryant-Denny Stadium. And he would like to see Paterno.

"I plan to go there unless something comes up that prevents it," Bowden told the Orlando Sentinel.

Asked whom he would root for if he goes to the game, he said: "How could I win that battle? I ain't saying. Hey, I'm an Alabama fan, now. You've got to know. When I was a kid coming up, boy, that was my dream -- to go to Alabama. But I love ol' Joe."
