Searching for crappie recipes ... of the fish sort
Thursday, March 18, 2010

Got any recipes that are really crappie?

Not bad ones, but ones for preparing crappie, the freshwater panfish.

The Jacobs Creek Paddling Association is looking for crappie recipes for Crappie Day on April 11 at Jacobs Creek Park in Fayette County. The recipes will be published on a website -- crappieday.com -- and people can vote for the best ones. The winner gets named Crappie Queen or Crappie King of 2010 and a prize to be named later.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy this day out -- crappy weather or not -- to celebrate the end of winter. It's being held by the Jacobs Creek Paddling Club and Jacobs Creek Outfitters, which is offering canoe and kayak rentals for $25 for the day. In addition to paddling and boating on Greenlick Lake, you can fish and hike, picnic and share food (the club is grilling hot dogs).
