Ricky Cannon stopped 20 of 21 shots and Joshua Hetz assisted on all three goals as No. 1 seed Shaler beat Mt. Lebanon, 3-1, in a PIHL Class AAA Penguins Cup quarterfinal Tuesday night at Bladerunners in Harmarville.
Shane Shiring, Pat Schafer and Zac Lynch scored for the defending PIHL champion Titans (21-1-1).
Trevor Nelson scored and Travis Lisowski made 37 saves for the No. 12 Blue Devils (10-13-2).
"I thought it was a nice win," Shaler coach Curt Hetz said.
"We played exceptionally well."
The semifinals in all three classes will be played Monday and Tuesday at Mellon Arena.
Seneca Valley 2, Bethel Park 1: Logan Pfeffer had two second-period goals and the No. 4 seed Raiders (17-5-1) held on for a win against the No. 7 Black Hawks (15-7-2) at Bladerunners in Warrendale.
Senior goalie Ryan Schutte improved to 10-3-1 in allowing one goal or less for the sixth time this season for the Raiders, who have a six-game unbeaten streak.
Tyler Shipley had the lone goal for Bethel Park.
Bishop Canevin 11, Chartiers Valley 4: Frank Vance had a hat trick and eight other Crusaders scored as Bishop Canevin (16-3-3) tied a season high for goals in a win against the Colts (9-11-2) at Mt. Lebanon Ice Arena.
"It was nice to see [the scoring] spread out a little," Bishop Canevin coach Kevin Zielmanski said.
"With all the games we struggled to score this year, to fill the net and get the guys on a bit of a roll as we go into the playoffs, it worked out rather well for us."
