Lizzy King is developing quite a reputation as a clutch player.
King, a junior guard, had the winning layup in the closing seconds for the second consecutive PIAA tournament game.
South Fayette came from behind to beat Southern Huntingdon, 44-42, Tuesday night in a PIAA Class AA second-round game at Richland.
King scored the final four points of the game after teammate Caitlin McLuckie's 3-pointer with 25 seconds left began a 7-0 South Fayette run to close out the contest.
King, who had a game-high 20 points, stole the ball on the inbounds pass after McLuckie's shot and made a jumper to tie the score at 42 before Erika Ford's steal set up King for the winner.
Friday, King's basket with 10 seconds to play lifted the Lions (19-7) to a win by an identical score against Cranberry in the first round.
King had eight points Tuesday in the fourth quarter, when South Fayette outscored the Rockets (23-4), 17-6.
Avonworth 62, Jeannette 51: Tara Gallupe had 17 of her 26 points in the second half, when the Antelopes (24-2) came from behind to beat the WPIAL champion Jayhawks (25-3) at Hempfield.
Catherine Costa added 12 points for Avonworth, which trailed, 45-40 -- with Gallupe saddled with four fouls -- heading into the fourth quarter.
"This is like our WPIAL final," Antelopes coach Bob Schulz said. "We were patient, got good looks at the hoop and shot well.
"Tara had a nice game. She took over in the fourth quarter."
Kayla Cook led Jeannette with 28 points, including 14 in the second quarter and five 3-pointers overall.
Seton-LaSalle 69, Marion Center 36: Katie Gattuso had 19 points and 17 rebounds and Alexa DelGreco 13 points and 11 assists as the Rebels (22-6) led, 29-12, by halftime in the win against the District 6 champion Stingers (23-4) at Butler.
