Plows destroyed lane markings on rebuilt Parkway East
Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Lane markings on the newly repaved Parkway East inbound from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Churchill were decimated by snow plows over the winter and must be replaced.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman Jim Struzzi said inlaid tape striping on the new pavement was scraped up by plows. He did not know why it fared worse than markings on older stretches of parkway pavement.

The replacement cost will be born by the manufacturer, he said. Permanent lines will be put down this spring when weather permits.
