Pennsylvania honey production in 2009, down 23.9 percent from 2008. The estimated number of colonies was down 2,000, and the average yield per hive was 40 pounds per colony, compared to 48 pounds in 2008. Pennsylvania bees produced an estimated $1.672 million in honey in 2009.
