Steelers quiet on first day of free agency
WR Battle might visit next week STEELERS FREE AGENCY
Saturday, March 06, 2010

Little happened to or for the Steelers as free agency opened for them as it often has in the past, quietly.

None of their newly minted unrestricted or restricted free agents were reportedly in line to sign elsewhere, and there was no scheduled immediate visits by candidates at their training facility on the South Side.

One name did surface as a possible visitor, perhaps next week, San Francisco veteran wide receiver Arnaz Battle. Battle, 30, caught only five passes in 15 games for the 49ers last season and 24 in nine games in 2008, but the Steelers might be looking for depth at that position.

There also has been reported mild interest in Willie Parker from Tampa Bay.
