In a game that resembled more summer league, out-in-the-playground than a structured Atlantic 10 contest, Duquesne (16-14, 7-9) got all it wanted before finally pulling out a 111-100 victory against hapless Fordham (2-26, 0-16) in a matinee at the Palumbo Center this afternoon.

Melquan Bolding led the Dukes with a career-high 32 points and Eric Evans had 23, also had a career high. Bill Clark added 20 for Duquesne.

Brenton Butler paced the Rams with 29 points.

Duquesne is in ninth place right now and must await the results of games tomorrow to see where it ends up in the conference tournament.

The Dukes missed their first 11 shots, six of those from 3-point range.

Still, even with the cold shooting, Duquesne was behind, 10-8, five minutes in.

Then Bolding began to heat up.

He hit on six of his first 10 shots -- including three of five from deep -- as he had 16 points less than 10 minutes in to propel the Dukes to a 32-25 advantage.

But Duquesne couldn't shake the league's bottom-dwellers, as with two minutes remaining before halftime, it was tied, 46-46.

The game, which went end-to-end throughout, went into the intermission with the Dukes leading, 52-51.

From there, it remained tight throughout the second half, before the Dukes were able to fight off Fordham, getting three players to score 20 or more points for the first time in a game since 1997.
