UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Former Penn State quarterback Anthony Morelli is attempting to earn an NFL job two years after getting cut in training camp by the Arizona Cardinals.

Morelli, 6 feet 4 and 232 pounds, will hold a personal tryout for scouts and general managers next Friday during the NFL Scouting Combine Stadium in Indianapolis.

Morelli signed a free agent contract with the Cardinals in 2008 and played in all four preseason games. He was invited to workouts last season with the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers.

Since being released by Arizona, the former Penn Hills High School star has continued to train, coached quarterbacks at Plum and helped his uncle with construction jobs.

Morelli, 24, signed with the Milwaukee Iron of the Arena Football League in November. He recently moved to Indianapolis at the urging of his wife and has been getting guidance from former NFL quarterback Jack Trudeau.

"I've gotten bigger, faster, stronger," Morelli told The Associated Press. "I think the chances are pretty good, I just need to get in front of some people."
