Ice fishing continued this week, although anglers had to trudge through deep snow and slush in many places to find good spots. Schedule changes for Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission trout stockings are posted at www.fishandboat.com.
Presque Isle Bay (Erie County): Anglers were icing crappies in the early morning and evening near Misery Bay. Perch and bluegills were running small, overall, with the nicest perch reported in the middle of the bay over deeper water. The head of the bay was yielding bluegills but was inconsistent for perch, with many small ones reported. Greg Rekitt of Girard caught a 2-pound, 15-inch perch with 11??-inch girth Feb. 1 on an emerald shiner.
Allegheny River (Warren, Forest counties): Muskies up to 40-plus inches and northern pike were hitting near Tionesta.
Kahle Lake (Clarion County): Mike Kuna of McCandless and Bob Griffith of Vandergrift won the Ice Fishing PA tournament last weekend with one crappie, four perch and seven bluegills and pumpkinseeds weighing a total of about 5?? pounds. Kuna's near 1-pound crappie was the tournament lunker. Slush and snow created tough conditions for the 14 participating teams. Other anglers reported icing perch, bluegills, walleye and bass on small jigs tipped with maggots or waxworms.
Lake Wilhelm (Mercer County): Ice anglers were catching crappies, bluegills and perch in the stumps as well as the main lake.
Stoneboro Lake (Mercer County): Ice anglers were catching bass, northern pike and perch in recent weeks.

Sugar Lake (Crawford County): Average catches of panfish were reported.
Pymatuning Lake (Crawford County): Crappies, walleyes, big bluegills and perch in mixed sizes, including many sub-legals, were reported near Westford and other parts of the lake. The Jamestown area was yielding bluegills, while crappies, perch and walleyes were reported elsewhere. Perch were hitting near Linesville.
Lake Arthur (Butler County): Ice anglers were catching crappies, bluegills, largemouth bass and some northern pike, mostly in the Muddy Creek arm, which has been the most accessible. Catfish and a few walleyes were reported in the mornings. Most fish have been hitting in less than 10 feet of water.
