Where to go ... Jennings Environmental Education Center
Sunday, February 14, 2010

What to do: Jennings is part of the state park system, but it's not the kind of park where you camp or have a picnic. It's one of several special parks with a mission to provide environmental education and interpretation. Programs continue through the winter including winter tree identification Feb. 21, and a meeting to discuss accomplishments and expectations for the park Feb. 24. Saturdays, when there's at least four inches of snow, Jennings holds snowshoe and cross-country ski hikes for beginners and veterans (equipment and guides provided, call a day before to reserve equipment). Open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekdays, weekends as scheduled. Trails open daily sunrise to sunset.

Each week, GETout features an area getaway so you can GETout to where the action is.
