The Parkway East/I-376 will be limited to a single lane outbound this weekend from the Edgewood-Swissvale Interchange to the Monroeville/Business Route 22 exit.

Inbound traffic will not be affected.

The restriction is to be in place from midnight tonight to 9 p.m. Sunday. The outbound exit ramp to Greensburg Pike also will remain closed.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation had planned to start the restriction on the Commercial Street Bridge at the east end of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel but changed that plan because of anticipated extra traffic tonight after Light Up Night in Pittsburgh.

Asked how long motorists can continue experiencing weekend restrictions, PennDOT District 11 spokesman Jim Struzzi said: "If everything goes well, this weekend and one more, the weekend after Thanksgiving. Then all the remaining minor work should be wrapped up for winter."

PennDOT has been restricting or closing the highway on numerous weekends since it began rehabilitating the two-mile stretch between Edgewood-Swissvale and Wilkins in March.
