An elected state constable who fired his gun at a vehicle but hit an occupied trailer home has been charged by state police.
Albert Troyan, 55, of Smithfield, Fayette County, faces charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, recklessly endangering another person and other offenses.
Police said Mr. Troyan tried to serve a warrant on a woman as she and her husband were getting into a vehicle in North Union Township Monday morning. The couple continued driving and Mr. Troyan fired a shot at the vehicle tire as he stepped out of the way.
Police said he then fired four more times at the vehicle as it drove away. One person in the car had seven warrants for unpaid traffic fines and an eighth for failing to pay in a bad check case.
It was later discovered that one round went through the wall of a trailer on Atlantic Avenue occupied by four people.
No one was injured in the vehicle or the mobile home.
A release from police did not indicate whether the couple in the vehicle face charges in the incident.
