Weekend traffic restrictions set for I-79, Parkway West
Thursday, November 20, 2008

Single-lane traffic is planned this weekend on Interstate 79 in the North Hills and the Parkway West in Robinson, weather permitting.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced I-79 will be restricted in the southbound direction only from 7 a.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday from the Wexford interchange to the I-279 split in Franklin Park. Crews are scheduled to mill and pave asphalt joints, closing the right and center lanes over the mile-long stretch.

Meanwhile, only one lane is to be opened in both directions on the Parkway West from midnight Friday until 6 a.m. Monday between the Route 22/30/60 interchange near the Bayer headquarters west to the Business Route 60/Route 60 split approaching Pittsburgh International Airport.

Crews are to be sealing joints, removing paint and making other improvements as part of a $7.4 million contract that has resulted in resurfacing two miles of the Parkway West this construction season.
