Police say a 23-year-old man was shot to death last night after being chased by two other men in Fineview.

Police found the victim's body at the bottom of a hillside near Belleau Street. The shooting occurred shortly before 9 p.m.

The man's identity was being withheld last night.

Police Lt. Dan Herrmann said detectives recovered 14 shell casings from the scene.

Two suspects, he said, might have fled the scene in a red, four-door sedan. Police were searching for witnesses.

The shooting occurred about the same time residents were wrapping up a meeting of the Brightwood Civic Group, where they spoke to police about recent outbreak of violence on the North Side.
