An 80-year-old Fayette County man has died after a crash on Route 40 on Thursday.

State police reported that James Jordan of Menallen died Sunday of complications from surgery at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Mr. Jordan reportedly turned from Haddenville Road onto Route 40 in Menallen around 8 p.m. and began driving west in the eastbound lane. A witness said she tried to alert him by flashing her car's lights and sounding her horn, without success.

Mr. Jordan's van crashed into an eastbound SUV in front of the Coal Baron Restaurant and he was trapped.
