Veteran late model racer John Flinner, driving Todd Bachman's No. 66, bested a surging John Mollick by one-tenth of a second for his second win of the season at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver a week ago.
"That's racing, that's fun," Flinner said in Victory Lane. "I've won some races here on the last lap out of the last corner, up on the cushion. ... I stood on the gas, and it was flawless."
Flinner praised Mollick and third-place finisher Jared Miley for running a fierce, yet clean, race. "They were racing as hard as I was. Everyone had room," Flinner said.
Flinner, of Cranberry, was in the No. 66 because his own No. 48 car is parked with motor problems, something he hopes to have rectified in time for action tonight at Lernerville .
Driver recovering
Lernerville sprint car driver Bob Felmlee was released from an area burn center Saturday with second-degree burns to the face, neck and right knee area.
As Felmlee slowed his sprint car to enter the pit area after a heat, methanol from a broken fuel line penetrated the driver's area of Felmlee's car, causing a fire.
Fellow sprint car racer Andy McKission noticed the fire and left his race car to assist track safety personnel in freeing Felmlee from his burning car.
"I got a big dose of it [methanol], and it lit," Felmlee said. "I am off for a while. I don't see me coming back in a week or two, but I'll be OK."
