Julian Durden transferred into the Montour school district from North Catholic this summer after moving in with his aunt. Last night, he had Chartiers Valley crying "uncle." Durden's debut in a Montour uniform was a smashing success, at least for a half. (Today)

When feature running back Connor Scott got knocked out of the game with an injury late in the first quarter of his team's season opener, Upper St. Clair coach Jim Render questioned his team's ability to keep pounding the ball on the ground. Aliquippa, ranked No. 1 in preseason in WPIAL Class AA, lived up to expectations in its Midwestern Conference opener Friday night at Laurel. The Quips won, 31-6, as four players scored touchdowns. Mikal Hall threw two touchdown passes and Haetaun Mathis retured a punt 36 yards for a touchdown. Mathis also scored the game's first touchdown on a 24-yard pass reception. (Today)
Luke Hagy was one of the top sophomores in WPIAL Class AAAA last season. It didn't take long into his junior year to make an even bigger impression with some big plays.
