Fraktur is the German word that refers to a stylized, highly decorative watercolor or watercolor-and-ink painting often bearing elaborate calligraphy and standardized motifs. In 2008, The Westmoreland acquired the Joy & R. David Brocklebank Fraktur Collection of over 250 German folk-art documents consist mainly of birth and baptismal records but also include house blessings, writing examples and narratives. These works contain the genealogical record of the early immigrants to our region.
